Sapphire glass exhibits positive thermal, electrical, and dielectric properties, along with resistance to chemical corrosion. It is resistant to high temperatures, has good thermal conductivity, and high hardness, and can transmit infrared light, with stable chemical properties. Therefore, it is often used to replace other optical materials to make infrared optical window substrates and is widely used in infrared and far-infrared military equipment, night vision infrared and far-infrared sights, night vision cameras, satellites, space technology instruments, and high-power laser windows.
